This wireless rain gauge mounts in your yard and transmits at 315 MHz to a receiver in the MK III. This gauge is supported on a sturdy PVC pipe that mounts in a hole in the ground. It is powered by two AA batteries which provide at least a year of operation. The maximum range is 400 feet. The advantage of this gauge is the yard mounting which permits easy access for periodic cleaning. This is particularly useful when the area is surrounded by a lot of trees.
